This would have been a great experience if the staff treated every race equally. If you are a minority you will not be greated and treated the same as the Caucasian guests. So, Don't reserve here if you want to be comfortable as you care for your child with life treating illnesses because the journey to locating proper medical treatment is enough to deal with.
Made a very hard and unexpected time much easier for me.
It is amazing that the place is free and everything is fancy also the staff are amazing! One other thing the thermostat sucks and the pillows are hard as a rock.
So here's the thing... My daughter was diagnosed with Cancer 7.1.14. We have been "Frequent Fliers" ever since, as we live out near Columbus. While I do agree with some of the other statements made about staff and inconvenience, I still give The Rainbow House 5 stars for these reason. Staff..yes some have been rude at times, but more often than not they are being pushed by rude guests. Asking for things or complaining about things that go against policy. No not all of the policies are convenient, but you're not the only one staying here. They have to draw the line somewhere and sometimes that causes some inconvenience, but really? Nothing worth complaining about all things considered. This facility serves a huge hospital which in turn is serving much of Nebraska, Iowa and beyond. If you want a 5 star hotel, there are several in the area. You're being given room and board FOR FREE! They will absolutely do what they can within the rules that they have to enforce for everyone!
Now, that being said. This is a beautiful facility! They have bent over backwards for our family when we had some very specific needs due to our daughters Cancer. The move from the old building to the new one is phenomenal! The rooms are large and comfortable (except the pillows, bring your own!) You have your own space to bring your own food or you can eat what they have available in the communal kitchen. There are games, books, laundry facilities. And its CLEAN and WELL KEPT! This is an amazing resource for families needing to be near their child.
It's great and fun and not to far away from both the hopital and the zoo
